Perm Research Institute of Agreeculture is the oldest agricultural research institution in the Western Urals. In 1913, the official opening of the Perm provincial agricultural experimental station took place, initially intended to solve the problems of the cultivation of the poor sod-podzolic soils of the Urals. The preservation and improvement of soil fertility, which is the main means of agricultural production, remains one of the main fields of the institute work of up to the present time. In 1988 after numerous transformations and changes of location the Research Institute of Agriculture was established in Lobanovo on the basis of the experimental station.
In 2017, the institute became a part of the Perm Federal Research Center UB RAS.
